Dr. Ryuji Machida
Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tokyo
Ryuji Machida has been appointed as the CMarZ-Asia Project Manager. He received his Doctorate degree from the University of Tokyo's Ocean Research Institute in 2004. The title of his thesis is 'Structural characteristics of copepods mitochondrial DNA and its application for phylogenetic studies'. In 2007, he was awarded the Okada prize for 2007 from the Oceanographic Society of Japan (OSJ). (more)
Ryuji has worked on the genetics of zooplankton in his pursuit of understanding into the phylogeny and evolution of these groups. He is currently engaged in zooplankton community genomics to understand its biodiversity.
